James R. Hitchner
Mr. Hitchner is a managing director with Financial Valuation Advisors, Inc. (FVA), a firm specializing in valuation, financial and litigation/forensic services. He also founded Valuation Products and Services (VPS), a company devoted to BV education through its publications, webinars, and other resources. He is president of the Financial Consulting Group (FCG), the nation's largest organization of business valuation and litigation services firms. Mr. Hitchner has 33 years of professional experience, including 31 years of valuation experience and two years of experience in real estate development. Prior to joining FVA, Mr. Hitchner was a managing director with the Financial Valuation Group. Before that he co-founded Phillips Hitchner Group, Inc. (PHG) where he served seven years as a principal shareholder. Prior to forming PHG, he was the partner in charge of Valuation Services for the Southern Region of Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers), a then “Big Six” accounting and consulting firm, where he spent more than nine years. He was also employed as a senior analyst with the national appraisal firm American Appraisal Associates in both the financial and industrial valuation groups. Mr. Hitchner is the editor and co-author of Financial Valuation Applications and Models, 3rd edition; co-author of the Financial Valuation Workbook, 3rd edition; co-author of Valuation for Financial Reporting, Intangible Assets, Goodwill and Impairment Analysis, SFAS 141 and 142, 3rd edition; and co-author of PPC's Guide to Business Valuation, 23rd edition. He is editor in chief of Financial Valuation and Litigation Expert, a bi-monthly journal featuring views and tools from experts in the field, and editor in chief of the VPS Q & A, a monthly publication that answers questions about business valuation, litigation and forensic/fraud services.
